How We Got Engaged

Bernadette had been waiting anxiously for months wondering, 'Is today going to be the day?',  'Maybe today is the day?', to no avail! Then one Saturday in April, Dennis told her he wanted to take her out to dinner that night and to make sure she dressed up for the occasion! Bernadette was so excited- she put on a cute dress and thoughts danced in her head as to what was in store for her that evening!

Dennis arrived later that night looking amazing in a suit and tie, and had a big bouquet of roses with him! When Bernadette greeted him at the door, entirely expecting him to propose, he told her he simply wanted to congratulate her on a recent promotion she had at work, and that was the reason for the festive nature of the evening. Of course, she was still happy Dennis had come to surprise her and take her out, but Bernadette's heart sank a little, since she was expecting that this would be the night of the proposal!

She went to put his beautiful roses in a vase, clipping the stems and arranging them just so. Then Dennis called Bernadette into the living room. He was opening a small bottle of champagne he had concealed earlier, and after pouring their glasses, sat down on the couch with her, telling her he had something very important to discuss!

He took Bernadette's hand and told her how much he loved her, how grateful he was to have met her and for the beautiful relationship they had developed.  He then got down on one knee and asked her to marry him!!! YAY! Bernadette very happily said Yes and they embraced! He then presented her with a beautiful art deco-style platinum engagement ring--it was just gorgeous! 

Sometimes it seems like that night was just a dream, but when Bernadette looks down at her ring finger, she's reminded of how real the dream is, and how lucky she is to have found Dennis :)
