About Bernadette

Bernadette grew up in Valley Cottage, a small town in Rockland County, NY.  She is an only child raised in a close-knit Italian-American family. She went to Catholic schools practically her whole life, starting from elementary school through college.  Bernadette was always fascinated by science, particularly biology as a child and knew from very early on that she wanted to apply her love for science to helping people and so went to medical school at Penn State.

Bernadette completed all of her education including internship and residency training by 2007 and since then has been practicing as a general ophthalmologist in Orange County, NY.  In her spare time she really enjoys hiking and running, and has competed in the Walt Disney World Half Marathon, winter 2011, and the Long Island Half, spring 2011.   

About Dennis

Dennis grew up in Ridgefield, NJ. He is a first generation Croatian-American, as his parents emigrated to the U.S. in the early 1970s.  He has one younger sister, Adriana, and quite an extensive family tree, most of the members of which are still living in the Zadar, Croatia region, as well as a few in Rome, Italy and Munich, Germany. 

Dennis has backpacked throughout Eastern & Western Europe extensively, and has been visiting his parents' home towns of Poljana and Sutomiscica every few years since he was two years old. Hence he is fluent in Croatian and knows some of the Italian language (learned in high school).  Dennis is a software engineer by profession and enjoys his passions of photography, snowboarding, hiking and climbing in his spare time.  He debuted his first solo photography exhibit in the November 2011 at the Englewood Public Library.   

How we met

Dennis and Bernadette feel the above verse from the book of Matthew best describes how they found each other.  They believe that at just the right time in their lives, God led them to meet through Catholic Singles, an online Catholic based singles site. The blessing of finally finding each other has made all previous disappointing relationships and heartache entirely worth it!  Against all odds, Dennis and Bernadette kept on seeking the person they desired, believing that there was someone better for each of them out there, and finally they met. And it's simply wonderful!
